Just bumps, baby

Recovering from any surgery is never easy. Bumps in the road are common. This time it's been the result of a hematoma that developed right under the sutures on my recently reconstructed foot. Two weeks post-op, with everything healing just fine, two holes burst open in the skin after the stitches were pulled.

Infection is a huge concern. And infection, if it were to get into the hardware (screws) in the foot, would basically put me up the creek without a paddle. And in my immune-suppressed body, let's just say, it would be ugly. So to fight off that real possibility, I've been seen weekly at a wound care specialist where I undergo cleanings and debridements. These are fun. Not really. But it's all part of the process. Bumps, if you will.
